Unused Brick Chimney

Alberta, Canada

I have an unused brick chimney on my 1910 house in a serious state of disrepair. How easy would a repair be, or would I be better off removing?? Someone tried telling me I had to pay for an inspection first????

If the chimney is not in use and you do not want to retain the Aesthetic look for the 1910 home then have a qualified chimney expert remove the chimney to just below roof level and then seal it off and re-sheath and shingle the roof.
And unused chimney is not only a n avenue for heat loss but an open invitation for wildlife to dwell in this “tree”
An inspection should only be needed if the chney is to be used.
