Neighbor’s Smoke Making a Visit
My neighbor installed an after market wood stove in the basement of their home. The external chimney is located on the side of the house between our homes. Our home sits at a slightly lower elevation and there is less than 100 feet between our homes. When they burn the stove, the smoke is entering into our dryer vent, ventilation pipes and collecting in the bathrooms and stairwell. Do you have any tips or suggestions that I may be able to pass on to my friend and neighbor?

Drafting problems are so hard to fix as there are a wide variety of reasons for bad drafting and neighbours smoke coming in.
If your neighbours chimney was taller, this might help, if your vents were more protected this may help but it appears that your home is oxygen starved and thus is pulling air in from any means and this is bringing in smoke as well. Could be a blessing in disguise.
I would have someone come in and test your home to see where the air leakage is and why your home is pulling in some much air from these entry points.
Does it happen worse if you have air exhausting appliances on? range hood fan? bath fan, etc, dryer?
