is it safe to use thin metal for chimney flue and encase in wood?

Also, does flue have to go all the way just below overhang?

For ALL woodbuning appliance you MUST use an approved chimney and venting system.
The chimney MUST extend above the roofline a minimum of 36” and be 24” higher than any permanent structure within 10 lineal feet of the top of the 36” section, not including the cap
Once this is installed to code requirements you may construct a chase around the chimney as long as you allow for the proper clearances as recommended by the chimney manufacturer and then finish of the chase with a proper metal chase pan top
You CANNOT utilize thin wall pipe as a chimney unless it is listed for use as a liner within an approved masonry chimney.
